Children’s Theatre Company

This Tony Award®-winning theatre knows a thing or two about using language to set the scene, move the story along, or elicit a response. So it was a thrill to be asked to create season announcement materials and get to reprise my role for several years in a row.

Season Theme

Not only did this year’s theme need to inspire ticket sales, it also had to introduce the brand new creative director’s vision of what makes CTC so exceptional.

“Treasure Island” play description

We needed to hit all the high notes of this beloved coming-of-age story, plus get real about pirate behavior (there will be stabbing deaths on stage) but not too real (sometimes pirates like to sing and dance).

Designer: Lily Prinsen

“The Wizard of Oz” play description

It’s been produced at CTC before, but this time they wanted to do it in a way that was both familiar and unexpected. The direction I received for copy? Write it for someone who doesn’t know the story at all.

“Alice in Wonderland” play description

This well-known trip of a play needed to sound at once animated and chaotic, yet also joyful and accessible, all while stirring edge-of-your-seat anticipation.
